True, if you count full seasons. The 2020 team went 12-17 at home, a .414 clip, worse than this year’s .444. The sentence only works if the sixty-game season quietly disappears.

And across all sixty-four Mets seasons, sixteen home records were worse than this one. A bad year at home. Not a historic one.

How we got there

Mets home records by season, 1962 through 2025. A 36-45 record is .444. Sixteen seasons were worse and two were identical (1974 and 2012). In the Citi Field era, 2009 through 2025, three were worse: 2011 at .420, 2013 at .407, and 2020 at .414. The 2013 figure of 33-48 matches the AP recap exactly.
